ZIM - R&D-Project ElastoTex

Start of another research project funded by the Federal Ministry of Economics and Energy (BMWi) "Zentrales Innovationsprogramm Mittelstand (ZIM) in cooperation with the German Institutes for Textile and Fiber Research Denkendorf (DITF), another BMWi-funded cooperation project was launched by 14th of november 2019

ElastoTex - Development of sensory, textile-reinforced elastomer components that can be manufactured economically and in individual quantities. In the overall project, a technology is to be developed that allows a textile functional structure to be integrated into an elastomer component. The textile structure is to be used for positioning a sensory functional structure in the finished component and to enable individual production on the same tool. In addition, an additional textile reinforcement is to be achieved, which should lead to a reduction of the wall thickness in the component. This will make it possible to produce intelligent, highly functional components whose new functions are intrinsically integrated. A reduction in wall thickness should lead to weight savings which, in addition to the economic advantages, will also open up fields of application in the field of lightweight construction.
